An original and convivial kitchen in the living room: original

The living room has a surface of 40 m2 for a height of 3 m under ceiling. Spacious, this room can accommodate, in addition to the living room and dining room, the kitchen area.
The new kitchen is installed in a 7m freestanding greenhouse2. The glazed panels offer the double advantage of bringing in the light without letting any noise or smells pass. In order to mount the structure, a space is formed between the greenhouse and the wall. This offset also cleans windows and provides an ideal recess for planting.
The stability of the whole is ensured by a fixation on the ground and by one of the gables, resting on the wall. The greenhouse is equipped with stable auto furniture, which does not rest on the structure.
A room is installed in place of the old kitchen. The existing plumbing network makes it possible to set up a water point.

The structure of the kitchen greenhouse

The greenhouse is installed in the living room and leaning against the wall of the old kitchen. First, check the strength of the wall and the bearing capacity of the floor. Between walls and wooden elements, insert a resilient strip.
To connect the new kitchen to the existing power and evacuation systems, the networks were passed through the wall. Install expansion sleeves at the crossing locations.
Dig the wall of the old kitchen to incorporate the deeper fridge-freezer. Above, shelves are arranged in height and follow the shape of the pinion of the greenhouse. Garnish the sides of the metal frame with acoustic wool and then cover with plasterboard. This insulation is an opportunity to build storage niches.
The framework of the greenhouse consists of an assembly of wooden poles. These posts are square, 90 x 90 and take different shapes, H, U or L, depending on their use. Some posts are worked on site for a perfect fit to the structure.
To facilitate the interlocking of the assembly, cleats are attached to the floor and the wall. Grooves of 20 mm (depth) and 29 mm (width) are drilled on the posts for easy nesting. The fixing of the posts and the inner cross members is ensured by assembly brackets.

The structure is filled at the height of the wooden panels. To ensure the stability of the assembly, attach these panels to the frame. Choose synthetic glass, light and clear, with the exception of the glazing of the hob, mineral it.
For discrete fixing, machine grooves (29 mm thick) in the posts. Insert the sides of the panels (28 mm thick) and the glazing (4 mm thick) into these rebates.
To maintain the glazing, screw a wedge in the groove, like a bead. Glue double-sided tape for optimal fixation. In order to change the windows, the frame is removable.
At the bottom of rabbet poles, an angle bracket reinforces each angle.
