Hanging, shocks... The solidity was not the strong point of drywall. It is now done with the plasterboard very high hardness Habito®. A Placo innovation®, which has excellent impact resistance and is able to withstand a load of 20 kg per kg or 60 kg by means of a simple wood screw using expansion plugs.
Habito® plasterboard very high hardness
The very high hardness of the Habito plate® gives it a resistance 2 times higher than a wall made with blocks. So Habito® is highly resistant to impacts from door handles, hammer strokes and furniture. Performances that make Habito plasterboard® an ideal solution for doubling the walls of an entrance, a stairwell or to make partitions and in all rooms of the house.
A wood screw to support a weight of 20 kg
Hanging decorative items or hanging furniture such as kitchen or bathroom furniture is now a breeze. Indeed, a simple wood screw 5 mm in diameter is sufficient to support a load of 20 kg (per point of attachment). However, to ensure this performance, the screw must be fully threaded to be in perfect contact with the fibers of the plate and exceed 8 mm on the back thereof. Note that the weight to bear depends on the diameter of the screw. If it is Ø 3.5 mm, the maximum load is 16 kg and 17 kg for a Ø 4 mm screw. In addition to increased strength, the use of wood screws allows to move the decorative elements... As a simple stroke of coating is sufficient to reseal the screw hole or holes.
Heavy loads without reinforcement
On the other hand, to support heavy equipment such as a kitchen cabinet filled with crockery, it is necessary to use expansion pegs. Spaced every 40 cm, they can support a load of 60 kg per fixing point. A solution that avoids reinforcing the metal frame by doubling the amounts as is the case for a partition made with standard plasterboard. Available in water repellent version, Habito plasterboard® can be implemented in a bathroom as in an unheated room such as a workshop for example.
Bathroom and difficult access, Habito® plate adapts
The implementation of Habito plasterboard®, is not confined to only dry rooms (living room, bedroom, entrance). Available in waterproof version (recognizable by the gray-green color of the invisible side) Habito® Hydro allows partitions and dubbing in wet rooms. Its resistance to the load makes it possible to support the equipments of a bathroom (suspended furniture, dry towel...).
Finally, the use of Habito plasterboard® in hard-to-reach rooms, such as attics, is now possible. With a width of 60 cm, it is easy to handle even in the smallest places.
- Habito® is also available in three lengths: 2.60 m / 2.70 m / 3 m and in 60 cm wide for hard-to-reach parts.
- A simple screwdriver set on a slow speed is enough. Percussion and shock models are to be banned.
- This plate of very high hardness is easily cut with a cutter or with a plaster saw.
