Install an infrared detector projector

Today, commercially available infrared detector spotlights are very affordable. Their installation is not very difficult and requires only a minimum of electrical work. As this is a material to be installed outdoors, this type of projector must be powered by an independent circuit, benefiting from a protection (circuit breaker or better differential circuit breaker) in relation to its power. Of course it must be connected to the ground (green-yellow wire). Power will be provided by a multicore cable (1.5 or 2.5 mm2 depending on the power), passed through gray PVC tube.

1. This type of projector is usually installed over a door, whether primary or secondary. In this case, you will pull the line (a PVC-protected multicore cable) from the projector to the power supply. First remove one of the two sealing caps on the projector (usually one on each side) and thread it onto the power cable.

2. Strip off the three wires of the multicore cable to power the projector. The cable will only be connected to the AC power terminals when the complete projector is installed and working.

3. After unclipping on both sides, the projector's power box cover, make the connections respecting the colors indicated by the internal wires (red: phase - blue: neutral - green / yellow: earth). Tighten the connection screws of the terminals. Replace the sealing cover in its housing.

4. Hold the power cable securely by tightening the two clamp screws on the cable clamp.

9. Close the power box by simply clipping the cover.

1. The angle of detection of the cell (140°) can be reduced by installing additional shutters that partially block the screen.

1. Once the projector is equipped with its power cable, attach it to the caliper by tightening the two nuts with a wrench of 10.

2. Mount the tubes that will protect the power supply line that you will connect if possible directly to the electrical panel under the protection of an assigned differential circuit breaker.

4. Open the projector cover (screws above and watch out, two simple pins hinged underneath).

5. Take a glove or paper towel to grab the bulb-pencil (500 W maximum) and put it in place. The direct contact of the fingers leaves on the bulb of the fat traces prejudicial to its longevity. Close the cover, making sure that the seal is properly seated.

1. While playing on its clamp on the stirrup, aim the spotlight towards the area to be lit (from 0 to 12 m maximum for a projector placed at a height of 2.50 m)

2. The area to be illuminated may be different from the detection area. It is enough to orient then the cell on the zone which one wants to monitor.

3. Make the lighting duration (right button) and brightness intensity presets for its release (left button). Then switch on the meter to feed the line.

4. Perform the checks by making the movements that can trigger the projector on the desired areas and during the chosen time. Fine tuning of both buttons may be necessary.
