I would like to know if the PEIi rating of a tile is important and if the standards are different in France and Spain. I found a tiling at a dealer and I would like to put it in a kitchen but its rating PEI is only 3 so I'm recommended a 4 for a kitchen. The seller tells me that it does not matter and that the ranking in 3 come from the fact that the tiles are Spanish.
The PEI standard (for Porcelain Email institute), is a European standard. The fact that a tile is Spanish or from another country does not change anything, and indeed, it recommends a level 4 for kitchens. Then everything depends on the use that is made of this kitchen: intense traffic or not. A level 3 tile can be very suitable in a kitchen used in a normal way by private individuals.
