Which filling compound to use?
The use of wall filler is essential to repair a facade. It is a product that is easily found in DIY stores. For heavy work, it is advisable to choose raw powders delivered in bags to mix with water before use.
For occasional needs, for "doomed" DIY or for small jobs, we can also find in DIY stores ready-to-use coatings. Note that these small packets of coated paste ready to be applied are generally more expensive than the big bags of plaster intended for painters and professional masons.
How to apply the filler?
Wall filling plaster is applied in several layers, so that the wall is flat and smooth. The tools needed to perform this task are quite small and can be cleaned easily with water:
- a tray to mix the product,
- a coating knife (preferably stainless steel),
- of Sandpaper and a brush to clean.
At first, it is necessary to clean, scrape the wall and widen the cracks so that the coating penetrates well. The filling compound must then be mixed with water (unless it is a ready-to-use paste) - provide a dose of water for three doses of product. Be careful, the dough must be used within half an hour of being prepared. It only remains to apply the coating with a knife. Once the surface is even, the product should be allowed to dry for three hours before sanding. To obtain an impeccable result, the operation must to be renewed several times, according to the state of the wall.
