I would like to cover my pergola. For the moment it is covered by canis, but it is not enough against the heat, so I would like an insulating material that lets in the light.
The cellular polycarbonate seems to be the solution best suited to your needs. Rigid and transparent plastic material it lets a maximum of light pass. The polycarbonate plate is very practical to implement. It is easy to cut according to the measurements of your pergola. An almost horizontal pose is possible without problem. On the other hand, your heat problem will not be solved. A shade of polyethylene shade could be enough and provide a healthy shade while maintaining a good brightness.
But beware: a pergola that is covered with a roof (even polycarbonate) and why not which one would dress the walls would become... a construction subject to urban planning rules...
