Electrical installation: recessed ducts for ceiling light

The power line of a single dome light must have a minimum of three wires: the regulation earth wire (green and yellow), even if it does not always find a terminal to the dome light to connect, the neutral blue wire and a colored wire that is connected to the bulb.

Necessary material

  • Stool
  • Hammer
  • Bricklayer's chisel
  • Plasterer's trowel
  • Trowel Berthelet
  • burin
  • Wire stripper
  • Suspension accessories
  • Electric cable
  • Plaster
  • nails
  • Screw
  • Connection dice
  • Fine screwdriver

Steps

  1. Putting on the sheath
  2. Re-sealing and fixing

Performing a bleed

1. Draw in pencil, directly on the wall and ceiling, the path of the tubes. Also determine the location of the switch and the chandelier holder. Then perform the slits, following this pattern with a hammer and chisel, or better, a bricklayer's chisel.

2. When the kerf is complete, as well as the switch and chandelier bracket slots, insert the protective cover, cut to the correct length. Flexible plastic sleeves better match the angle of the ceiling and wall. Aluminum sheaths require bending with a special tool (wheel bender). To maintain the sheath in the groove, squeeze nails at regular intervals, which you will remove as the plaster is plastered.

3. In the duct thus maintained, run the three wires required for this installation. Insert the end of the sheath into the housing.

4. Fit this assembly into the ceiling trench, and proceed with filling the kerf. This one being necessarily quite deep, make the plaster by spoiling it "tight", so as to obtain a rather thick mixture. Respect the following proportions: 1 part of water for 2 or 3 parts of plaster. Do not drag because the catch is fast. If your plaster has "taken" before being in place, discard it and redo a "mess".

5. Once plastering has finished, smooth the entire surface covered with a Berthelet trowel, using the non-toothed side. Carefully perform this operation to avoid the use of a smoothing compound: this product prevents the plaster from drying thoroughly. The plaster takes about 6 months to dry.

6. Pass the three cables through the bracket. Put it in place and screw it. By releasing the bleeding, do not forget to leave accessible the slots provided to receive the screws. This fixing system avoids drilling a second hole to introduce the support of the chandelier.
