- The basics before starting
- The steps of laying a siphon:
- PVC panties
- Cast iron panties
- Prompt cement: for unpadded descent panties
The installation is made here using PVC fittings such as straight pipe, corner fittings, tee, sleeves, panties, etc.
The basics before starting
Depending on the assembly, these connections can be female / female or male / female. It is important to respect the recommended diameters.
A small section tube may be connected to a larger section tube, but not vice versa, to prevent gridlock. A minimum slope of 1 to 3 cm per meter is mandatory.
It allows a good flow and avoids the stagnation of wastewater.
If the horizontal part of your pipe is very long, an expansion sleeve will absorb the deformations.
The steps of laying a siphon:
Place the siphon in the sink so that the lengths of the pipes can be precisely measured down to the cast iron run.
Draw on the wall using a spirit level and a pencil the routing of pipes. Make sure to respect a horizontal slope of 1cm per meter.
After making the traces, then drill the holes required for the installation of the collars. These will keep the pipes clean against the wall.
After fitting the dowels, screw the plastic collars into the wall.
Place one every few meters.
Measure the lengths of pipe needed.
Cut the PVC pipes perpendicularly using a hacksaw and a miter box.
Chamfer the edge of the pipe with a file so as to allow better penetration of it in the female part of the connection.
Stain the sizing area with a medium grain abrasive belt (120).
Degrease the area to be glued with trichlorethylene.
Glue the end of the hose with a brush and a suitable PVC glue.
Be careful to cover the entire surface.
Also glue the inside of the fitting.
Fit the fitting firmly by hand without waiting. As the glue opening time is low, allow to dry for 10 minutes before handling.
Continue step by step to carry out the evacuation from the pants to the siphon, sticking the necessary connections between the different parts.
Make the connection between the pipe and the siphon of the sink. Fit the plastic ring and the conical silicone seal.
Connect the siphon by screwing the ring. The conical seal ensures tightness.
At the sink level, do not forget to insert a flat rubber gasket.
In the case of a PVC drain, glue the drain hose into one of the holes of the reduction pad.
If necessary, use a reduction sleeve.
Cast iron panties
At the cast iron panties, drill the silicone pad at the location provided with a cutter...
... then push the drain hose out of your sink.
No need to stick.
Prompt cement: for unpadded descent panties
If the cast iron or PVC panties of your wastewater outlet do not have an elastomeric silicone pad for the waterproof connection of your PVC pipe, create a strong and waterproof connection yourself.
- Place in the opening of the pants a piece of cardboard pierced with a circular hole so that penetrates the PVC evacuation.
- Prepare in a trough the prompt cement and then brush generously the cardboard placed previously.
- Let dry.
