The washing machine is with the refrigerator, an essential equipment in the house. But from the shop to the first laundry, there is the phase of the installation which must be carried out in an adequate way to avoid many disappointments. Let's see how to install your new washing machine safely.
How to connect and connect a washing machine?
Where to install your washing machine?
Your washing machine must be installed in dry and frost free. You must have an electrical outlet of sufficient power, an inlet and a water outlet.
The soil must be flat and stable. It must be able to support the weight of the device.
The washing machine must rest on its 4 feet. In general, it has wheels for easy movement. Remember to lock the feet before switching on.
If the feet are adjustable, check that the machine is plumb with a level and if necessary adjust the height of these.
To limit operating noise and vibrations, you can install your washing machine on an anti-vibration mat.
If your washing machine is inserted between furniture, leave at least half a centimeter on each side. Some devices are built-in. Follow the instructions for installation.
When installing in the bathroom, place it more than 60 cm away from the shower or bath.
Unclog your washing machine
To prevent the drum from moving during transport, a washing machine is flanged. The engine can also be protected by wedges. You must remove all these protections before the first use.
The fixing clamps are generally behind or under the device. Refer to the instruction manual provided by the manufacturer.
Think of keep screws and rods. You may need it during a next move.
Connect your washing machine to the water supply
Your washing machine has a water inlet hose that you will connect to a pipe with a tap.
The majority of the machines are connected to a cold water inlet. Some, however, have two water inlets: hot and cold water.
If the length of the water supply hose is not sufficient, you will find hoses of longer length than the after-sales service of your household appliance shop.
The tip of the hose water inlet is screwed on the faucet. Do not forget to put a rubber gasket to seal the connection. Always check that there are no leaks. If necessary, tighten the nut but without forcing too much.
If there is no faucet on the copper pipe, use a self-drilling or self-drilling tap. It installs directly on the pipe and avoids having to cut and solder to put a new tap.
Connect your washing machine to the sewage pipe
Now you will connect the drain hose to the sewage system.
You must insert the drain hose into the sewage pipe by pressing it down about fifteen centimeters. The bent section of the pipe must be located high to fit into the siphon.
Attention, the emptying must be located between 60 cm and 1 m of the soil. Be careful, a badly installed drain can cause flooding.
If the drain hose of your machine is too short, you can fit an extension. Similarly, if your installation does not have an evacuation, you can easily create a drain by fitting the fitting and siphon by gluing on a PVC pipe.
Connect your washing machine to the power supply
You must connect your washing machine to a grounded outlet. This must be located at least 1 m from the water supply.
The line dedicated exclusively to the washing machine must be protected by a circuit breaker of 16 A minimum and a circuit-breaker of 30 mA. Never use a power strip or extension cord.
Before the first laundry
Now that your washing machine is connected, you will install it in its final location. By pushing it back between the furniture or just towards the wall, make sure you do not crush the different pipes.
Perform a first empty wash to clean the drum.
Good to know: If your washing machine is replacing an older model, consider recycling. Deposit the old machine in waste disposal or use a solidarity network that can after revision give or resell. The distributor to whom you bought your device has the obligation to take back the old for free. Eco-participation you pay at the time of purchase, paying for future recycling.
