I am planning to install an insert in an existing open fireplace, which I do not use. I would like to reduce my heating bill (gas). I hesitate between two solutions: wood insert, or bio ethanol. I thank you in advance.

My answer will be clear and precise: a bioethanol fireplace is not a heating system. It is at most a small auxiliary heater. On the other hand it is an accessory of decoration and very pleasant atmosphere. Its cost of use is also significantly higher than that of a gas heater and of course an insert. In addition, the price of these devices is quite excessive. Also beware of the risks with some very insecure devices.
