I have a wooden cottage style cottage fisherman's cottage improved dark oak color. I would like to give it a cottage style golden oak... with wood blades style shutter blade. How do I go about it, what insulation to put between the current wood and my blades, or a single vacuum of air enough?
Your project is nothing less than installing wood paneling on a wooden structure. A simple air gap (anyway mandatory) will participate in the insulation. I think, however, that you will benefit from improving the insulation with insulating panels (why not wood fiber or mineral wool, or extruded polystyrene). The cleats on which you will fix your cladding boards will frame the insulation. For cladding, you can use composite wood, unalterable and maintenance-free (see many NEWS on the subject in the site).
