I have a 20 year old apartment with windows equipped with shutters with inner box. These shutters have chains to ensure their opening. My problem is that the cold passes through the opening left for the chain. I tried to put in the box of insulating wool but it pulls off using the chain and falls as the opening. What can I use to insulate my boxes?

If it is not possible to insulate the trunk itself, cut a piece of rubber (inner tube, for example), split it. Pass the chain through, then fix this piece under the trunk, at the exit for the chain.
