In heating mode, these systems remain efficient when the outside temperature does not drop below 3° C. The efficiency of a heat pump is directly proportional to the difference between the temperature of the medium where the heat is taken and the set temperature of the heating. The larger the gap, the worse the performance. This is why air heat pumps are less efficient than geothermal. It is rather advisable to install them in areas with mild climate (coastal for example). In very cold weather, additional heating is necessary.
