All the greatest representatives of French and international design meet during the Paris Design Week show. Today's appointment is essential, the 2016 version is still a great success with a presentation of all trends for the next season and a look at the future with the assistance of young talents.
A design event in Paris
The Parisian capital will welcome for 8 days the 6th edition of Paris Design Week (PDW) from Saturday 3rd to 10th of September 2016 in tandem with the salon of Maison et Objet Paris. Suffice to say that this is an event not to be missed for design lovers, amateurs and professionals alike.
It is an appointment that brings together no less than 300 participants and which presents itself as a journey between shops, showrooms, exhibitions, competitions, conferences, etc... to present the concepts and collections that will make the trend from the next autumn. This mix of genres, colors and shapes comes in ultra contemporary design, hippie chic decor, Urban Jungle trend, light games, African deco...
This salon is a real source of inspiration in particular for the general public who does not always have access to this type of event. The PDW is banking on originality this year: new logo, new concept and a fun theme: "House of Games".
Paris Design Week 2016: A busy agenda
Left bank, right bank, on each side of the Seine, stylists, designers and designers compete by presenting their latest collections in their boutiques and galleries. We find regular participants but also new recruits. The discovery is made on five neighborhoods and six different courses, fans can stroll in Saint-Germain, Marais-Bastille, Opera-Champs-Elysees, Barbès-Stalingrad and the 13th arrondissement of Austerlitz dock at the Docks, Cité de Fashion and Design. In the most prominent courses, we can mention the Projects Course, targeted at interior designers, or the Upcycling Course already presented at the 2015 COP21 focused on ecological solutions.
A springboard for young talents
Training centers also find their place with the establishment of a partnership with, for example, the Barcelona School of Design and the Plymouth School. But the highlight of Paris Design Week 2016 is the exhibition Now! The Off that can be admired directly at the Docks - City of Fashion and Design. For several days, the best young international talents, a hundred participants from 25 countries, will be able to present themselves to be selected in the competition RADO Star Prize France. The jury for the 5th year will choose 10 projects that the public can tier, and the lucky winner will receive a reward.
