Can you advise me on the product to use to protect the top of my dining room wood table in order to use it without a tablecloth! (satin finish)
It all depends on the current finish. If it's a waxed table, you have to stripping the wood entirely and possibly the sand down, to then apply a varnish of furnishing, even a satin glazed varnish.
If the tray is already varnished, the resistance can be improved by the complementary application of one or two layers of glaze varnish.
Another alternative: there are translucent "tablecloths" and satin aspect, which provide total protection, while leaving visible wood.
