I have just lived in a small village (01300 BRENS) which has a banal oven covered with flat tiles. The chimney is sealed with what seems to be lead or zinc, the roof is covered with foam except the descent to the chimney probably due to the metal that surrounds the chimney. Is it not enough to place a lead or zinc sheet under the canes to remove these foams on all roofs?
Mosses and lichens proliferate on tiles taking advantage of their porosity and humidity to settle. Insulating the ridge boards with any material will not prevent the foams from attaching to tiles or other porous substrates. Specific anti-foaming products can be applied to eradicate them and prevent them from reappearing. Consult our sheet "Antifoam- roofing, walls and facades" which details the methods of application.
