Some staircases, especially in the south of France, are composed of masonry steps with tiled floors, the riser being painted and the stair nosing being made of a large wooden batten. With time and use, it wears and deteriorates, while the tiles get dirty and lose their luster. A renovation is necessary avoiding, as much as possible, to touch the structure of the staircase.
The restoration of a staircase in tomettes consists essentially of a cleaning and renovation of the tiles, sanding and painting of the stair noses, and finally a repair of the painting of risers. The use of quality masking tape allows a precise delimitation of the elements to be painted.
