In the garden, the assembly of a hut for children bought in kit does not present any particular difficulty. On the other hand, integration in its environment, here a steep terrain, can complicate the task.

There are many models of small kit houses in the shops that make children happy. If their assembly is simple, some rules must however be respected to ensure the durability of the installation.
Let the wood of a hut work without constraint
The sections of the structural elements are not comparable to those of "hard" constructions, type garden sheds, it is essential to look after the support on which the house rests.
The recommendations of the manufacturer indicate that the hut should not be positioned on hard ground (concrete, asphalt, etc.) but on a natural ground, flat and stabilized, free of plants, rubble...
The reason: to allow the wood to work without constraint.
In our case, the house ("Manon" Cerland), made entirely of autoclave treated pine so rot and resistant to fungi and insects, is placed on a terrain with a pronounced elevation.
The recovery: savings at the key!
The configuration of the ground does not allow the realization of a leveling without partially burying the work, the choice is on a raised wooden floor resting on concrete pads.
The structural elements and wooden pallets used for the seat were recovered in a masonry company.
Four concrete bushels of 200 x 200 mm, five rafters of 80 x 120 mm and six pallets were necessary for the realization of the floor.
Shingle to be protected
Once mounted, this type of cabin is customizable at will. Beyond the tinting (paint, stain...), it is quite possible to cover the roof.
The original cover, made of bituminous paper, was finally covered with shingle shingle. Nailed to the roof panels, they provide additional protection against rainwater.
But the roof could also have received corrugated iron, imitation tiles, etc.
To succeed only the assembly of a hut:
Usually, this type of assembly must be done with two. However, some situations do not allow to undertake the realization in pairs. In this case, it is best to equip many clamps to clamp the elements together before screwing.
Realization of the floor
The location of the four studs (20 x 20 cm bushels) is imposed by the width of the two pallets recovered (114 cm x 2) and the length of the hut (270 cm).
Before sealing the concrete blocks, check the level and squareness. Arrange two Mason rules in the corner and check the angle with a square.
Prepare a mix of concrete in a wheelbarrow. The goal is to simply ballast the bushels and enjoy a clean seat.
No need to scrape, fill the bottom of the hole with some stones and pour concrete to the top of the block smoothing the surface with the trowel.
Wait 24 hours before moving on.
Mark the cut lines on the 80 x 120 mm rafters that form the floor structure. Here, two lengths of 270 cm and two of 212 cm.
Cut the rafters with a circular saw, a jigsaw or a handsaw. On the sides of the rafters exposed to bad weather, apply a stain.
Fix the frame to the studs using reinforced brackets.
Mark the location of the dowels (for solid or knocking materials Ø 8 mm), drill and screw.
A fifth chevron (254 cm) is placed in the length in the center of the frame. It rests on two hooves.
The pallets are laid in the width of the frame.
Only the last two blades are adjusted. They are cut with a jigsaw to the desired width, ie 72 cm.
Screw the floor consisting of four panels of 85 x 135 cm to the pallets with screws of Ø 4 x 60 mm.
Assembly of the hut
Begin by assembling a first angle formed by the rear facade of the house and the side panel with window (screws Ø 3.5 x 50 mm).
Continue assembly by placing all the vertical panels (facades and gables).
Use Ø 3.5 x 35 or 50 mm screws to secure the assembly to the floor.
Once the walls are mounted, place the four purlins in the dedicated notches and screw in the thickness of the gables.
Windows are delivered pre-assembled. Insert them into the reservations (or openings) provided for this purpose. Hold them and screw them to the panels (always with Ø 4 x 35 mm screws).
Arrange the two outer support posts. Maintained by the railings, they form the awning of the terrace.
Assemble all the elements that form the roof. Screw the panels on the purlins.
First, lay two panels on one roof, then make the other side.
Roof covering and finishes
In addition to the strips provided, shingle shingles are nailed to the roof, starting from the bottom and respecting a double overlap (lateral and longitudinal).
Cut the surplus with the jigsaw.
After fixing the structural elements, joinery, roofing, etc., all the finishing profiles are screwed.
The space between the support floor and the cabin floor is filled by a custom cut pine tree.
