The patina is to give different shades of color to a piece of furniture to get an old look.
Tools and materials needed:
A coating of preparation.
Three or four different colors of paint patina different (while remaining in the same colors).
An old sponge.
Step 1: preparation of the furniture.
Make sure your surface is perfectly smooth and clean.
Then apply a layer of gesso type special wood preparation to regulate the surface.
You will apply it generously with a medium-sized brush.
Let the coating dry for a minimum of two hours.
Step 2: the painting.
Spend a first coat of paint using a color with a high hiding power.
Once the paint dries, lightly apply a coat of wax over it by rubbing in the direction of the fiber with a sponge.
Step 3: the patina.
In addition to the first layer, are the other layers of paint, different colors that will give its patina to your furniture.
Apply them by rubbing the paint with the fingertips, color after color, from the darkest to the lightest, passing a layer of wax between each different shade.
If after drying the patina does not suit you, you can always accentuate it by rubbing the wood with coarse sandpaper (25-40).
