Ceiling suspension systems

The suspension system of a ceiling lamp depends on the one hand, the material of which is made the ceiling (wood, concrete, brick or plasterboard) and on the other, the weight of the object to suspend. The traction acting in the axis of the binding, it must offer all guarantees of resistance to tearing.

Necessary material

  • Stool
  • Wire stripper
  • Screw
  • Fine screwdriver
  • Electric cable
  • Connection dice

Steps

  1. Installation for a normal suspension
  2. Installation for a heavy suspension

Installation for a normal suspension

Strip the end of each cable

Strip the end of each cable

1. Strip off the end of each cable that will be passed through a domino. Use a wire stripper with V-shaped jaws: it cuts the insulating sheath of the wires. It must be adjusted using the knurled screw according to the section of the wires.

2. Gather the three stripped wires together and secure them in a domino. This one, also called connection die or sugar, can be rubber or plastic. It is used to connect the conductors end to end. In this case, get a domino with three inputs. Using a thin screwdriver, lock each wire into a hole, knowing that the ground wire (yellow and glass) is connected to it's circuit.

3. Install the system switch. Connect the housing to the two wires protruding from the sheath, then position it in the drilled hole beforehand. Since it is not completely recessed, install a switch cover, leaving only the control button.

Plan a solid attachment mode such as a piton called "Golot"

1. Choose the attachment accessory according to the weight of the suspension. If you want to install a fairly heavy suspension, copper or wrought iron, plan a solid attachment mode, a piton called "Golot" for example. To fix it, drill the ceiling so that the diameter of the hole corresponds to that formed by the two fins of the peak. Engage the stud in the hole, the wings closed, then screw. As and when screwing, the wings will open in the material constituting the ceiling and block the piton.

2. Screw the bolt until its flange is flush with the ceiling. Gather the threads in a domino. This suspension, provided with a cover, conceals the entire fastening system.

  1. Rocking piton: the rocker, in vertical position during the introduction of the piton, lowers as and when tightening to rest on the hidden side of the wall;
  2. Piton with rubber peg: the peg returns to the thread, locking in the material or behind the wall;
  3. Piton metal fin known as "Piton Golot": tightening, the fins are locked in the wall;
  4. Piton with ankle Nylon: the two parts part in the wall;
  5. Three piece metal peg bolt.
