The installation of a bathtub is not limited to the drainage and water supply connections. It requires the installation of the emptying system and the taps.

Dress the bathtub
When you buy a bathtub, it is delivered "bare" without tap or emptying system. Only the holes of the bung and the overflow are drilled. The passage or holes of the mixer or mixer are not made because they depend on the future location of the bathtub. You must therefore obtain a dump system and the faucet according to your budget, the aesthetics sought and the practical aspect of their use.
A complete kit
To evacuate the water from a bathtub, it is necessary to use a set of emptying which is in the form of a kit composed of several elements. These can be bought separately, but it is better to choose a complete equipment to avoid possible "incompatibilities" during the connection. Purchased in GSB, the dump system posed here includes four elements.
The bung with its opening / closing flap has a fast flow (60 liters / minute). It is coupled directly to a siphon. To prevent the bathtub from overflowing during filling, the overflow is connected by a corrugated plastic hose to the drain. The dump control is associated with the overflow via a grid-oriented handwheel. It acts on a hose (a sheathed cable) that opens or closes the bung valve.
Precautions for installation
All the joints necessary for the sealing of the various elements of the kit are provided during the purchase (to be counted before beginning the work). In general, rubber flat seals seal between elements placed vertically or horizontally. Example: the coupling between the bung outlet and the inlet of the siphon, that between the body of the overflow and the wall of the bath... The tightening of a threaded ring compresses the joint.
The conical seals are used when there is connection of a part of the emptying system to a pipe (siphon outlet on the evacuation pipe, inlet of the overflow pipe in the bung...). A threaded ring seals tightly.
The seal between the stainless steel grate of the bung and the hole of the bath is not provided. Do not use silicone but prefer a sealant paste (Atmos, Geb...). Below, introduce the large flat rubber gasket. The tightness is ensured by the tightening of the two screws of the grid in the body of bung. They compress the two joints (one putty, the other rubber) on both sides of the bathtub bottom.
The overflow device is easily installed by screwing the perforated grill onto the body of the overflow shown at the back: a flat seal will seal the outer wall of the bathtub. The bung valve control knob pushes until it snaps into the center hole of the grate.
The siphon is screwed on the bung by inserting a flat rubber gasket. At the rear, a disgorging cap must be accessible through the inspection hatch made in the dressing panel of the bathtub. The outlet of the siphon can be adjusted to facilitate the connection to the general drainage pipe, either with a rigid PVC pipe Ø 40 mm, or by a hose of the same diameter.
Install the faucets
In general, mixers require only one hole in the bathtub. Here, two are necessary because it is a tap on the throat (it is placed on the rim - the throat - of the bathtub). These faucets are specific, but it is possible to adapt a wall-mounted shower faucet thanks to brackets (columns) bent which support it in height and drive hot and cold water.
Drilling the bathtub can be problematic if it is a steel or enamelled cast iron model that requires a specific drill-mounted drill bit. You always have the possibility to have these holes made by the dealer.
On the other hand, an acrylic model or in resin of synthesis is pierced and is used very well. A pilot hole Ø 6 mm is drilled to engage a conical reamer to drill, little by little, a hole of Ø 21 mm. It allows the passage of the threaded entries of the brackets.
Whether the tap is at the head or the side of the tub, the distance between the two holes is 150 mm, a standard measure that corresponds to the center distance between the two mixer taps. These two inputs (in 20 x 27) are screwed on the threaded parts of the two brackets. Two flat rubber seals seal.
Adjust the feet
Since the siphon is located close to the ground, the bathtub should be placed as close as possible to the wastewater column to evacuate quickly without stagnation. If this is not the case, it is necessary to raise it with its adjustable feet to give a sufficient slope (at least 1 cm / m) to the drain pipe connected between the siphon and the column.
The bottom of the bath has two longitudinal square tubes embedded in the resin. This is where four smaller square tubes fit. Adjustable plastic end caps with a threaded rod and a lock nut serve as feet and adjust the level of the bath. Thanks to them, you can give a sufficient slope to the drainage pipe.
