The skylight provides natural lighting for traditionally blind functional rooms such as washrooms, corridors, walk-in closets, laundry rooms, entrance halls, etc. The company VELUX® proposes a solution allowing these parts to obtain by the roof, a contribution of significant clarity thanks to a natural light pipe: the Sun Tunnel.

  1. The benefits of the well of light
  2. The implantation of conduits

The benefits of the well of light

Natural light in dark room

Natural light in dark room

This system, amazing simplicity, is also very easy to install. It allows to diffuse a natural light in dark rooms of the house where the installation of windows (roof or vertical) is not possible. Here we see a classic entrance corridor that requires the use of electric lighting to be functional.

Lighted corridor naturally

This conduit also called "skylight" provides users with the parts concerned, the psychological comfort of natural light while saving energy since the sun serves as a bulb. Once installed, this system requires no energy. The same entrance corridor now has enough light to become, in the daytime, a place of life and no longer a passage.

Light captured by the roof

Light captured by the roof

The light is captured by a glazed entrance on the roof and extended inside the attic by a flexible or rigid conduit. This system allows to bring the natural light to the room to be lit and to diffuse it through a ceiling light translucent double acrylic glass very sober.

Due to good weather conditions (clear weather), the light distribution of the "Sun Tunnel" corresponds approximately to the illumination of a conventional 60W bulb. This wardrobe, thus illuminated in the light of day now allows a better judgment of exact colors of clothing, which allows to match them with more confidence because we know the possible alteration of colors with some electric lights.

Aesthetics of a roof window

Aesthetics of a roof window

The company VELUX perfectly mastering the technique of installation of roof windows, it was easy for him to develop a rigorous aesthetic, without use of bulbs often unsightly but proposing an architectural integration which takes again the best of the windows of roof. The 4 mm thick tempered glass protection window has undergone the "clear & clean" home treatment with dual function: dispersion of drops and catalysis to ensure the destruction of organic matter. A 10-year warranty covers parts, labor and moving. There is no risk of tightness.

Positioning sleepers

Positioning sleepers

Seen from the outside, the positioning of dormant flush roof recalls the aesthetics of windows. The South and West orientations are recommended for this type of installation. It is also advisable to prefer the top of the ridge, the latter being the least exposed to the rotating shade of trees and giving a better quality zenith light.

Rigid conduit

Rigid conduit

The rigid duct makes it possible to reach the furthest rooms in the heart of the house that can measure up to 6 m long thanks to its extensions. It provides a high luminosity input thanks to its highly reflective aluminum tube (diameter: 350 mm) (98% internal light reflection).

Flexible duct

Flexible duct

The flexible duct (aluminum reflector) can reach him, parts not far from the roof. It is therefore more economical to purchase.
Its length must not exceed 2 m. It is obviously cut for a lower distance. Its diameter is also 350 mm.
