I just bought an old house and in the living room there are beams with between each beams of the wallpaper. The house is old and the ceiling is broken in places: what can be put between the beams to hide the paper and cracks?

You can cut strips of glass that you will glue between the joists, then you will paint in white. But a more "pro" solution will be to cut strips of plasterboard that you can stick to the ceiling between the joist or hold by quarter-round rods that you nail on the side of the joists. You only have to paint the plates (if they are not pre-painted), and to color the sticks of the color of the joists.
