Noble and warm material, wood has many advantages. Used in construction for a long time, it was a little out of fashion. But with the wooden houses, it makes a strong come back because it can be used both as distributive partition in the constructions with frame wood, partition of partition or even like sliding door.
The different types of wooden partitions
Wood can be used in different ways. In a wood-frame house, for example, wood panels (OSB) are attached to the beams of the structure. With a suitable insulation, they constitute perfectly insulating walls, waterproof and 100% recyclable.
Inside a dwelling, the wooden partitions can serve as separation between parts. They can be fixed or mobile. Their thickness and strength will depend on their use, the essence chosen and a possible doubling. Finally the wooden partitions can be made of solid panels or paneling.
The advantages of wooden partitions
Like plywood partitions, wooden partitions are easy to assemble as there are nowadays on the market mounting kits consisting of uprights and rails to install them. With their hollow structure, it is also possible to run electrical cables for a clean finish.
Wood is also the ideal material for movable partitions that create temporary separations between 2 rooms (living / dining room, bedroom / dressing room, bedroom / bathroom...). Space therefore becomes flexible according to the needs. The partitions can be sliding (on wheels or rails), accordion, foldable or articulated. And to be lighter, they can be wood and paper in the image of Japanese partitions.
Finally a wooden partition can take different forms, including that of a shelf or a "Library partition". If it does not have an insulating property, it can nevertheless be very decorative and very practical.
